James, Cont Line (NC) & SC Line, S9484, sol was b in Northampton Co NC & lived at Halifax NC at enl, sol m Annie or Anna Jennings (date not given), sol appl 31 Oct 1832 Sumter Dist SC aged 74, sol d 29 Jan 1833 leaving a wid Anna who d 26 Jun 1838 leaving children; William T. Spann, Tyre or Tiry J Spann, Anna or Annie wife of Robert E. Yates, Lawrence M. Spann, Timothy Spann, Maria wife of George H. Cathcart, Mary & James. S. Spann, Harriet G. wife of "Walker ?" Watson, & Charles G. Spann, the son Charles G. Spann's children referred to were; James, Samuel, Regina & Lawrence Spann, the daughter Harriet & her husband Walker Watson's children referred to were; Mildred, Sarah, James & Albina.
Joe Spann reports "Willis Spann Sr. was born on 7 June 1755 at Mount Royal in Northampton County, North Carolina. Willis Spann Sr. was a revolutionary soldier, serving in Captain Cosmo de Medicib~@~Ys company of North Carolina horse. He remained in service for two and a half years beginning in April 1776.
